Beyond keyword optimization in SEO

Beyond keyword optimization in SEO – On-Site SEO

We always talk about keyword optimization in SEO in the context of on-site SEO. But now search engines have become more sophisticated. therefore because of this, there are a lot more things beyond keyword optimization in SEO. In this article, we are going to talk about optimization other than keyword optimization in SEO.

What is keyword optimization in SEO

Generally, when we talk about keyword optimization in SEO, it means using the profitable keywords at specific places of the article. Profitable keywords are those keywords or queries that people most use to search for in a particular topic. These keywords are founded by doing keyword research. There are various tools to do keyword research.

Keyword research shows how many times a particular keyword of a particular topic is searched in a specified time period. How difficult it is to rank? How many backlinks you will need?

When we have our keyword, we use it at prominent places of the article. These help search engine crawlers to guess the topic of the content. These prominent places include a heading, subheadings, first paragraph, meta description etc. Hence this is all we do to perform keyword optimization in SEO. Here I have not included keyword research. That is a different thing, I have only explained how we practically apply our given keyword.

What is beyond keyword optimization in SEO

In the above text, we have talked about keyword optimization. Here we shift our attention to things in SEO which are beyond keyword optimization.

There is a lot of things other than keyword optimization in on-site SEO. We can divide these into two terms. Non-technical on-site SEO and technical on-site SEO.

Technical on-site SEO

Technical on-site SEO includes the necessary changes that are required to perform in the HTML code of the page. Such as meta description, assigning correct heading tags, robots.txt file, interlinking, URL redirection, link attributes, page load speed, website speed, installing SSL certificate etc.

All these are very important if you want your website to rank better in the SERPs. So if you want to be an SEO specialist you should have some understanding of HTML and web development.

Non-technical on-site SEO

Non-technical SEO includes understanding your content consumer in the best way possible. Of course, it includes keyword research and optimization. But here in this article, we are not concerned about them.

Nowadays search engines have become more sophisticated. They are equipped with more and more complex algorithms and programmes. Search engines nowadays are able to identify user-friendly content to a greater extent. Therefore you should create content aiming the user intent behind the query.

Non-technical SEO includes all the modifications needed to be performed in order to provide the best user experience possible.

User intent or keyword optimization

You may be in a situation where you have to decide which thing to follow user intent or keyword optimization? Previously user intent and user experience were considered a secondary thing in on-site SEO. But now search engines are equipped with more capabilities. Therefore keyword richness is not much important these days.

Now user intent and user experience is more important than any other optimization. Search engines are smart enough to guess the topic or query to which particular article is related to in a number of ways.

Important things to keep in mind

Before writing an article over a particular topic you should keep following things in your mind.

  • User intent behind the query. That is the type of information searcher wants to get by that query. Whether it is transactional, informational, or navigational. Keeping that you have to write the article.
  • You should have a clear idea of your target audience. You have to design the content keeping capabilities of your target audience.
  • Language should be familiar to your target audience. It should be written perfectly because perfection reflects the authority of the article.
  • Write that much only which you consider will be enough to understand the topic. Do not unnecessarily add text to make your article lengthy.
  • Always keep a check over the content flow of your article. Content flow should be systematic. Because a beginner should not find it difficult to understand the topic.

Final words

Concluding all the above things we can say that, onsite SEO is not keyword optimization only. It is a lot more than that. Now on-site SEO has become complex due to the improvement of search engines. We have to give priority to our content consumers more than anything else in the non-technical part of onsite SEO. You need to be creative and smart to engage your target people.

There is nothing specified formula to do non-technical part of the onsite SEO. Do whatever you think will help in improving user experience.
